Movie of the Week: Adaptation

Directed by Spike Jonze
Written by Charlie Kaufman and Donald Kaufman
Author  Susan Orlean
Released: 2002
Quote: Susan Orlean:
"What I came to understand is that change is not a choice.  Not for a species of plant, and not for me."

The weekend my brother came down, he brought gifts and this movie was mine.  Oh my...It's a good one.  Darkly comedic and written ever so well, this film is quite the adaptation of the book, "The Orchid Thief".  It's definitely one of those movies that you can watch more than once and notice things that you didn't the first time.  I can't help but love that they were filming "Being John Malkovich" at the same time as filming this film and both were written by the same guy! Very cool stuff. There isn't much I can tell you about the film that I don't want you to experience all on your own. WATCH IT!  I'm going to go lay on the floor.

Drawing...

I've realized recently that I haven't drawn in a long time.  Yeah I do doodles here and there, but I haven't truly drawn much since the beginning of high school.  It makes me kinda sad since I do enjoy it.  I think I'm going to start drawing more again.

Here's a drawing my brother did.  I think he's quite good.

Movie of the Week: Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Directed by Robert Zemeckis and Richard Williams
Written by Jeffrey Price and Peter S. Seaman
Author  Gary K. Wolf
Released: 1988
Quote: Eddie Valiant:
"Toons.  Gets 'em every time."

This live action/animated feature is truly one of kind with the exception of Space Jam(but not really).  It has a bundle of oldies cartoons from the Golden Age and is set in the 1940s.  It's mysterious, dramatic, crazy, and the acting is pretty fantastic considering they were working with "cartoons".  I can't get over how insane and trippy Tune Town is, and how  the Acme devices from the old cartoons were incorporated in the film.  This movie really brings the old spirit of cartoons back into the viewer and makes them more real than ever, even if it's slightly cheesy because it was made in the 80s.  WATCH IT!  OH NO! THE DIP!

Reddie!!!

My little brother's birthday was yesterday and I bought him a Betta Fish!  He said he wanted to call him Reddie or Red Eddie, but I think his first choice is cute.  He finally decided on a combination of the two.
Here are some pics of him.

Movie of the Week: Hoosiers

Directed by David Anspaugh
Written by Angelo Pizzo
Released: 1986
Quote: Wilbur 'Shooter' Flatch:
"I know everything there is to know about the greatest game ever invented."

This film is probably one of the best sports movies ever made, if not the best. I've decided to make it the movie of the week because Dennis Hopper died this past week :( and I loved his character in this movie.  It's the based on a true story taken place at an Indiana high school.  I loved it for a lot of reasons, but I think mostly because it leaves you with a sense of hope for things in life, whatever they may be.  I don't know if I'm being over sentimental, but the film stayed with me nonetheless. WATCH IT! Enjoy the journey.
